The sale of Víctor Muñoz to Liverpool has been tremendous, according to Osasuna's sports director, Braulio Vázquez. The club earned 40 million euros for the striker, but Vázquez admits that it was a significant loss. "At a sporting level, it's a major loss", Vázquez acknowledged in the press conference to present the new striker Jonathan Dubasin.
Vázquez also spoke about the permanence in the top category of Spanish football, which is the main objective of the season for Osasuna. "It hasn't affected the prestige level, because it's still an attractive club", he assured.
The sports director also spoke about Osasuna's youth academy, which has added young players like Iñigo Arguibide and Asier Osambela. "They're adding to the first team", Vázquez said.
Vázquez also spoke about the departure of Iker Benito, who has gone to a Mexican team. "He doesn't feel comfortable with the lateral position that was needed", Vázquez said.
Osasuna is currently in 17th place in LaLiga, with 42 points and a -6 goal difference. The next match is against Athletic Club, on February 7, 2027.
