LaLiga has reported offensive chants against political figure Vito Quiles during Osasuna's home match against Racing Santander. The incident, recorded in the 51st minute of the game on 18 October, has been included in the competition's weekly report.

According to the official report, a group of local supporters in the Grada Sur Baja section, beneath banners reading 'Lizarra', 'Osasuna' and 'Graderío Sur', chanted "Vito Quiles, hijo de puta" for six seconds. LaLiga detailed the exact content of the shouts in its document. This event occurs amid heightened tension following Quiles' visit to Pamplona on 15 October as part of his 'Mafia o Patria' tour, which prompted major police deployments, protests and at least one arrest.

Institutional response

Pamplona City Council approved on Monday an "institutional declaration condemning the riots registered during his presence in the city, as well as his hate speech". The declaration was backed by PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo Zurekin, while UPN, EH Bildu and PP abstained. LaLiga's report also documented twelve other incidents by local Osasuna supporters, with insults aimed at Santander, Spain, the national team and the National Police. Racing Santander fans were responsible for two additional incidents.

The match in question, from the ninth round of La Liga EA Sports, ended in a 2-0 victory for the Pamplona side. Ante Budimir, the team's top scorer this season with seven goals in nine appearances, opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 9th minute. Asier Osambela sealed the win in the 88th. This triumph allowed Osasuna, who sit tenth with 11 points, to halt a poor run of form.

The Navarrese team had suffered three defeats in their last five games, including a heavy 5-2 loss at Betis the previous week. They now prepare for a demanding trip to face Sevilla on 26 October. Osasuna, who have conceded 18 league goals, will look to solidify their performance at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Striker Budimir, now three goals away from reaching a century for the club, remains a key figure in attack.
