The official website of Club Atlético Osasuna is the top performer in LaLiga, according to a technical study. The analysis, conducted by consultant Guillermo Sanz, examined 20 Spanish and 20 English Premier League clubs, ranking the Osasuna site as the only one to exceed the 87.5% excellence standard.
Guillermo Sanz explained that web performance metrics summarise millions of real user experiences. "These data show respect for fans’ time, organizational efficiency and long-term economic viability. They are, literally, worth their weight in gold," the expert stated. The study found that 88% of the club's website users had a "good experience", a percentage no other analysed club managed to reach. The remaining Spanish clubs range between 40% and 80% of users with a good experience, while the English clubs range from 60% to 85%.
Benefits for the club
A fast and stable website not only improves a club's ranking in Google search results but also opens new commercial opportunities. Sanz added that "good web performance not only saves time, but also expands the market and attracts new fans that a slow, poorly performing site would never reach." The consultant recalled findings like Amazon's, where longer load times led to more users leaving the page, a lesson applicable to a club's ticket and merchandise sales. The load speed of Osasuna's website is 1.8 seconds, well below the average of the sites analysed.
This recognition comes as the team seeks stability on the pitch. Osasuna sit 10th in LaLiga with 11 points from nine games, recording three wins, two draws and four defeats. The team has scored 10 goals and conceded 18, leaving them with a goal difference of minus eight. In the title race, the club trails leaders Barcelona by 16 points. Their next fixture is a tough away trip to sixth-placed Sevilla on 26 October. Striker Ante Budimir, the team's top scorer with seven goals, will be a key figure in that match.
The team's recent form has been patchy, with just one win and one draw in their last five matches, suffering three defeats. The study concludes that designing for users with the worst conditions benefits everyone. This approach, already applied by the club's digital department, aligns with the need to connect with a fanbase closely following the team's progress in the standings. The positive off-field news contrasts with a recent patchy run of form, with just one win in the last five matches (WLDLL).
