LaLiga has filed a formal complaint with the RFEF's committees over insults directed at Club Atlético Osasuna during their latest league match. The governing body submitted the report to the Competition Committee and the Anti-Violence Commission following incidents recorded at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
The complaint focuses on the sixth matchday fixture, played on 16 September, which ended in a heavy 4-0 defeat for Osasuna. According to the document, fans located in the animation stand of the South Stand, sectors 127 to 133, chanted offensive songs at various points in the match. The report text states that fans "chanted for 10 seconds: 'Todos a una, puta Osasuna'."
These incidents, which also included insults against Real Madrid, are classified as prohibited conduct under the RFEF's Sports Discipline Code and the Law against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport. Potential sanctions for the home club, Atlético de Madrid, could include financial fines or the partial closure of the stadium sectors where the chants originated, specifically the South Stand of the Metropolitano.
For Osasuna, this episode further darkens a difficult spell. The Navarrese side arrives at this complaint after suffering three consecutive defeats, the latest of them in the capital, and sits 13th in the LaLiga table with seven points. Their recent form is a concern, averaging just 0.6 points per game over the last five matchdays. The next challenge is immediate, a clash against Rayo Vallecano at El Sadar, where the team will look to break their poor run.
LaLiga's submission of this complaint is a standard procedure to pursue this type of behaviour in stadiums. The body acts on its own initiative following reports from security officials and match delegates, seeking the application of exemplary sanctions to deter future incidents.
