Darko Brasanac has been appointed as assistant coach to Jagoba Arrasate at CA Osasuna after announcing his retirement from playing. The club confirmed the Serbian's addition to its coaching staff on 12 October.

Brasanac played for Osasuna from 2019 until February 2024, making 121 official appearances under Arrasate's management. His final professional match was on 20 June, when he came off the bench for Málaga in the promotion playoff in Almería. "Malaguistas, me habéis robado el corazón para siempre...", the player stated upon his farewell.

Staff reshuffle

Brasanac's arrival is part of a reshuffle of Arrasate's backroom team. Bittor Alkiza will serve as second assistant, Sergi Pérez will lead physical preparation with Pablo Iriarte assisting, Richard Sanzol will be the goalkeeping coach, Juantxo Martín the physical readapter and Ion Orradre the auxiliary analyst.

Osasuna, sitting 16th in La Liga with 8 points from eight games, is seeking stability after dismissing Luis Miguel Ramis. The team has taken just one point from the last fifteen available, a five-match winless run that reflects their poor recent form. Its next fixture is against 15th-placed Racing Santander this Sunday at 14:00 at El Sadar. Ante Budimir, with six goals in eight appearances, will be a key figure in the relegation battle, which also involves Málaga, Brasanac's last club. The Croatian striker has scored 60% of the team's goals, with the side having gone 540 minutes without scoring from open play.

The Serbian midfielder, who also played for Partizan, Leganés, Alavés and Betis, made 211 appearances in Spain's top flight. Supporters can check the updated squad and match schedule on our squad and fixtures pages. His debut on the Osasuna bench will come this weekend.
