Luis Miguel Ramis has criticised the manner of his dismissal as manager of Club Atlético Osasuna, calling it 'precipitous' following the defeat at La Cartuja. The coach, who oversaw eight La Liga games with a record of two wins, two draws and four losses, said his farewell via an Instagram message on Monday.
Ramis expressed gratitude to the club, fans, players and staff, but made clear his disagreement with the process. "It is not the desired exit and in my humble opinion, it was precipitous in the farewell and in the announcement of the new coach," the former boss wrote. The announcement of Jagoba Arrasate as his replacement came almost immediately.
The decision followed a heavy 5-2 defeat to Real Betis, a result that left Osasuna in 16th place in the table with just eight points from eight games. The recent form is a concern, with only one win in the last five matchdays. The team had conceded 15 goals in those eight matches, an average of nearly two per game, while scoring only 9.
Arrasate's return
Jagoba Arrasate, who previously managed the club from 2018 to 2024, has signed a contract until June 2029. His official presentation at El Sadar is scheduled for Tuesday at 12:30, and he will lead his first training session on Wednesday at Tajonar. Arrasate is the second-most experienced manager in the club's top-flight history and achieved milestones like promotion, survival and a Copa del Rey final.
Ramis, meanwhile, also had affectionate words for the club's staff. "What beautiful affection from everyone!" he stated, thanking the workers at Tajonar in particular. The coach wished his successor luck in the difficult task ahead.
The new cycle begins with a key match next Saturday at El Sadar against Racing Santander, a direct rival currently in 15th place. Arrasate's immediate priority will be to stop the poor run of form and gather points to move the team away from the relegation places. The club trusts his experience and knowledge of the squad will be key to turning the situation around.
